About

A problem solver, in the long form.

I’m Ashley — an entrepreneur and technologist based in the West Midlands.

I’ve spent the better part of a decade building businesses where compliance, technology, and people meet. My driving force has always been the same: take on challenges I start with little or no information about, and find a way through them.

Today the Persici Group is three companies across four countries — money remittance, payments technology, and consulting. I care about doing regulated work properly and leaving things a little better than I found them.

What I value

  • 01

    Solve the real problem

Start at the root, not the symptom. The cleverest solution to the wrong problem is still wrong.

  • 02

    Compliance is craft

In regulated work the rules are the form. Building inside them is the discipline, not the obstacle.

  • 03

    Community first

The communities I build for are the reason any of it matters. They keep the work honest.

  • 04

    The long game

Compounding beats cleverness. Build work you'd be proud to still be doing in ten years.

Background

From a corner of Birmingham, outward.

I started Persici in 2017 to solve a problem I knew first-hand: that the people most underserved by banks were the ones who could least afford the friction. What began as a single licensed remittance business has grown into a small group of companies — but the bar has stayed the same. Build the regulated thing properly, or don’t build it.

Outside the work, I read more than I write, walk more than I run, and try to take the long view in most things.
